What Makes Purple Diamond Press Different?

Traditional publishing can offer professional infrastructure and distribution, but authors often surrender significant creative control and may wait years for an opportunity. Self-publishing provides control, but leaves the author responsible for assembling and managing the publishing team, production, distribution, and marketing.
Purple Diamond Press combines professional publishing standards and worldwide trade distribution with meaningful author involvement throughout the process. Every manuscript is developed by a professional editor, and every illustration is created by a real illustrator — we do not use AI-generated text or artwork anywhere in our books.
Authors invest in the professional development of their books while retaining their voice, participating in key creative decisions, and receiving the guidance and infrastructure of an established children’s publishing team.
Available Online Is Not the Same as Professionally Distributed
Many publishing services can make a book available through Amazon KDP or upload a title to a wholesale database such as Ingram. That can make a book orderable, but being listed in a system is not the same as having professional trade distribution and sales representation.
Purple Diamond Press titles are represented and distributed worldwide through Independent Publishers Group (IPG). Through IPG’s established trade sales network, our books have the opportunity to be presented to and purchased by professional buyers across a much broader marketplace—including independent and national bookstores, libraries, schools, museums, gift shops, specialty retailers, wholesalers, online retailers, and international accounts.
Our books aren’t simply uploaded and left online waiting to be discovered. They are prepared for the professional book trade with the metadata, sales materials, seasonal planning, marketing support, and distribution infrastructure expected by industry buyers.
Distribution never guarantees placement with a particular retailer or account. But professional representation gives your book the opportunity to reach buyers and markets that are difficult for an independently uploaded title to access on its own.
Author Rights & Royalties

Purple Diamond Press believes authors should understand both the creative and financial side of their publishing partnership before committing.
Authors retain full ownership of their underlying work while granting Purple Diamond Press the publishing rights defined in our standard publishing agreement.
Authors can earn up to 55% royalties on sales, depending on the applicable sales channel and terms of the standard publishing agreement.
Because our books are professionally distributed through IPG and sold through multiple trade channels, royalties may vary by channel. Retailer discounts, distribution fees, printing, fulfillment, returns, and other applicable costs can affect net receipts.
We believe in transparency—not headline percentages without context.
We believe authors should understand the full anticipated investment required to professionally produce their book—not just the publishing fee. Before the agreement is signed, we help authors understand the expected costs associated with editing, illustration, and their selected publishing experience.

Complete our online application and upload your children's book manuscript. This helps us learn about your story, your goals, and whether your project may be a good fit for Purple Diamond Press.

Receive Your Publishing Evaluation
Within 14 days, you will receive an evaluation email letting you know whether your manuscript has been accepted. If accepted, the email will include the chosen publishing path, package information, and next steps.

Review & Sign Your Publishing Agreement
Accepted authors will receive a standard publishing agreement outlining the services, responsibilities, royalties, timeline, and payment terms. Your project officially begins once the agreement is signed and the required payment is received. Flexible monthly payment plans through Affirm are available for qualified applicants.

Create Your Book
You will move through editing, illustration, cover design, interior formatting, proofreading, and production with direct collaboration and guidance from our publishing team. Our goal is to preserve the heart and voice of your story while helping you produce a professional, high-quality children's book.

Publish, Distribute & Promote
Once your book is complete, we prepare it for publication, launch, and distribution. Our titles receive global distribution through Independent Publishers Group, and authors are expected to actively participate in marketing, events, outreach, and reader engagement.

Our publishing program includes a one-time publishing fee with three experience options designed to meet the needs of children’s book authors. To ensure transparency and give authors greater creative involvement, professional editing and illustration are contracted separately. This allows you to work directly with your editor and illustrator while our team oversees the process, provides guidance, and ensures every element meets our high publishing standards.
From your initial manuscript to your finished book, we’ll guide you through editing, illustration, design, production, distribution, and launch. And once your book is published, it doesn’t stop there. Through our partnership with the Independent Publishers Group (IPG), your book has access to global distribution, making it available to retailers, wholesalers, libraries, schools, and readers around the world.
